McKool Smith principal Nick Matich shared his opinion on Senator Patrick Leahy announcing he would not run for the upcoming Senate reelection in Law.com’s “Skilled in the Art.” Nick commented, “I think Senator Leahy represents one side of the patent debate the country’s been having for the last 10 years. The interesting question in my mind will be who takes up the mantle of those issues now. The tech lobby will look for someone to push similar ideas forward.” He also predicts that either Senator Chris Coons will step into the Senate IP subcommittee chair position if Democrats hold the Senate; if Republicans gain control, Senator Thom Tillis would likely gain control.
