DALLAS – Airline travelers tuning into Sky Radio Network will hear Dallas attorney Samuel F. Baxter describing how the East Texas town of Marshall has become home to one of the “patent litigation capitals of the world.” His interview is featured as part of Sky Radio’s popular program “The Business & Technology Report.”
In the interview, Mr. Baxter discusses how judges in Marshall have worked together to help their courts hear more patent litigation than any jurisdiction in the country outside of Los Angeles.
"Marshall is recognized across the nation as one of the premier jurisdictions for resolving complex patent claims," says Mr. Baxter, a principal in the Dallas and Marshall offices of McKool Smith, P.C.
Mr. Baxter tells listeners how Marshall has become an attractive venue for patent claims based on a detailed case management system established by local judges to insure that case matters are heard as quickly as possible.
“If you can go fast, and get a good resolution, that’s what you want to do, and the judges have made that possible,” Mr. Baxter says in the interview.
Also in the interview, Mr. Baxter discusses his recent successful representation of Tivo Inc. in a Marshall trial over Tivo’s patented “time warp” technology, which allows television viewers to record one program while watching another. In addition to his win for Tivo, Mr. Baxter’s other recent patent litigation in Marshall includes victories on behalf of Visto Corp. and Medtronic, Inc.
Mr. Baxter is regularly listed as one of the top attorneys in Texas. He has earned the distinction of being selected by fellow Texas attorneys as a Texas Super Lawyer for three years running in Texas Monthly magazine.
