Every year, The National Law Journal's VerdictSearch affiliate scours court records to compile a listing of the nation's largest verdicts. McKool Smith's VirnetX verdict is ranked as the seventh largest verdict in the country during 2012.
The verdict was issued November 6, 2012 after a five day trial before Judge Leonard Davis of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas-Tyler Division. Jurors awarded $368 million in damages to VirnetX in finding that Apple infringed four of the company’s patents which cover virtual private network (VPN) technology.
