McKool Smith’s antitrust litigation practice was awarded for “Outstanding Antitrust Litigation Achievement in Private Law Practice” at The American Antitrust Institute (AAI) 2017 Antitrust Enforcement Awards dinner, which took place in Washington, DC on November 7, 2017.
The AAI is an independent, nonprofit organization devoted to promoting competition that protects consumers, businesses, and society. The full list of awarded firms can be found here.
McKool Smith received the award for its success in a $244 million settlement on behalf of a certified class of more than 600 consumer goods makers, including lead plaintiffs Dial Corporation, Henkel Consumer Goods, Smithfield Foods, and Kraft Heinz Co., on the first day of trial against News Corp. and its affiliates. In addition to the settlement payment, News Corp. agreed to alter its retailer contracting practices. McKool Smith received the honor along with its co-counsel, Susman Godfrey, Kellogg Hansen Todd Figel & Frederick, Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel LLP, and Berry Law PLLC.
The case is Dial Corporation v. News Corporation, et al. Case No. 13 Civ. 06802 (WHP), in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
