McKool Smith Principal Jennifer Truelove has been recognized among the 2022 “Top Women in IP” by Texas Lawyer.

Jennifer served on the McKool Smith trial team that secured an initial $506 million patent infringement verdict for PanOptis against Apple in August 2020. After six days of trial in EDTX, jurors awarded PanOptis after finding that Apple willfully infringed five PanOptis patents which cover wireless communication technology essential to the 4G LTE wireless standard. The verdict is recognized as one of the “Top 100 Verdicts” of 2020 by The National Law Journal.
After that damages verdict was set aside in June 2021, Jennifer served as a member of the McKool Smith trial team that prevailed against Apple a second time. Two months later, Jennifer helped the firm secure a $300,000,000 damages award for PanOptis against Apple on August 13, 2021. The verdict is recognized as one of the “Top 100 Verdicts” of 2021 by The National Law Journal. Jennifer’s contributions to the McKool Smith trial team were many—she assisted with all aspects of trial preparation, including pre-trial, voir dire, opening statement, and closing statements. She also participated in witness preparation for most PanOptis’ witnesses. Also, at trial, Jennifer conducted the direct-examination of survey expert Rebecca Reed- Arthurs, a key witness for the plaintiffs.
Prior to the PanOptis victories, Jennifer also served as trial counsel to Vocalife, LLC in securing a $5 million patent infringement verdict against Amazon. The verdict was announced on October 8, 2020 following a six-day jury trial in EDTX. Jurors awarded Vocalife after finding that Amazon infringed Vocalife’s patent covering systems and methods for use in a microphone array system essential to virtual assistant smart speakers utilizing Amazon’s “Alexa” technology.
