In the January 2010 issue of Business Crimes Bulletin, senior counsel Doreen Klein looked at how the Department of Justice used wiretaps to uncover alleged insider trading at hedge fund Galleon Group, which was the first time the court-authorized wiretaps had been used to target significant insider trading on Wall Street. Klein and her co-author concluded that the case was likely to foreshadow increased use of wiretaps in white collar cases despite raising practical issues that could benefit the defense.
