McKool Smith Principal Nick Matich authored an article discussing Big Tech’s influence on the United States patent system. In the article, Nick argues that a series of Supreme Court decisions, including Alice Corp v. CLS Bank International, “made it much harder to patent the kind of algorithmic innovations that made Google what it is today.” The article also discusses how Big Tech has been able to use the America Invents Act to its advantage and argues that Congress “needs to empower small innovators by restoring the balanced patent system that built America's tech industry.” You can read the full article here.
