Overview
Dan Miller is Senior Counsel in McKool Smith's New York office and focuses on patent litigation and client counseling. He has almost 20 years’ experience litigating patents in district courts throughout the United States and before the International Trade Commission.
Dan has worked on high-profile patent litigation matters involving large companies spanning a wide range of industries, including consumer electronics, telecommunications (including mobile telephony, wireless infrastructure, and wireless standards), semiconductors (including processor design and implementation and memory systems), and computer software (including operating systems, storage systems, graphical user interfaces, and XaaS).
Dan has divided his career between practicing at law firms and serving as in-house counsel, with eight years dedicated to in-house roles. While in-house, he had the opportunity to oversee and manage high-profile, high-stakes litigation. This experience allows him to better advise clients concerning their goals and objectives. Mr. Miller also advises clients on intellectual property licensing, patent portfolio strategy, patent portfolio mining and analysis, post-grant patent office proceedings (including inter partes reviews and ex parte reexaminations), competitive patent analysis, and patent acquisition.
