Overview

Archis (Neil) Ozarkar is Senior Counsel in McKool Smith's Houston office. He represents both plaintiffs and defendants in complex IP disputes, including in patent, trade secret, and trademark litigation. Neil represents clients in federal district and appellate courts, before the US International Trade Commission, before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board in post-grant review proceedings, and in arbitration proceedings. His practice has also included helping clients procure patents in key technological areas, addressing IP issues in complex technology transactions, and managing domestic and foreign patent portfolios.

Neil has litigated matters from pre-filing analysis through dispositive motions and appeals. With a background in electrical and computer engineering, Neil specializes in IP disputes primarily in the technology and oil and gas industries.  

Before joining the firm, Neil worked at a prominent international law firm, and prior to that, at an IP boutique. During law school, Neil served as the article submissions editor for the Houston Business and Tax Law Journal and competed in the Giles Sutherland Rich Patent Moot Court. Prior to attending law school, Neil worked as an engineer at two Fortune 50 companies.

Neil is admitted to practice in Texas and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the U.S. District Courts for the Southern, Eastern, Western, and Northern Districts of Texas, and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
