As reported by Law360 and other media outlets, representing the State of Texas and Attorney General Ken Paxton, McKool Smith has brought a lawsuit against Meta Platforms (Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp) in Harrison County, Texas, alleging rampant, long-running violations of the state’s biometric privacy and deceptive trade practice laws. According to the complaint, more than 20 million Texans may have been adversely impacted by Meta’s “deceitful business practices.”
The State of Texas and Mr. Paxton are represented by a national McKool Smith team comprising trial attorneys Samuel F. Baxter, Jennifer L. Truelove, John B. Campbell, Lewis T. LeClair, Eric B. Halper, John C. Briody, Radu A. Lelutiu, Melissa Cabrera, Ayana M. Rivers, and Eliza Beeney.
